Our infant room is a warm, caring environment for ages 6 weeks to 1 year old. We follow your child's schedule for sleep and nutrition, and then provide a variety of activities based on your child's age and development. Teachers incorporate music, art, and sensory play into the daily routine. When your child begins to walk, we will work with you on their "graduation" to the pre-toddler class room

Pre-toddlers enjoy an inviting classroom where they are introduced to more organized activities such as circle time, art, sensory activities, and all weather outdoor play. We are very flexible in our care for your child and maintain their eating and sleeping patterns that work best at home. Gradually, they become accustomed to napping after lunch around noon and help them prepare for toddler and pre-school experiences. These rooms are meant for ages 1-2 years old.

Preschool Rooms
Northwood has two toddler classrooms, one primarily for the younger ones and one getting ready for pre-school. This allows for a more seamless transition between our pre-toddler room and before entering the preschool classrooms. At this point, toddlers follow the structured routine of the day while learning more independence. We work directly with parents on potty training and accomodate based on your individual child's needs.

Preschool Rooms
We have three preschool classrooms where children 3-5 years of age learn the skills to get ready for kindergarten while also establishing more social emotional skills playing alongside their peers. We follow the Connecticut Early Learning and Development Standards (ELDS) and Connecticut Documentation& Observation for Teaching System (DOTS). The ELDS are implemented throughout the daily preschool program.

Northwood offers before and after school programs for parents who need to get or return from work later than their children's school schedules. Our Center on Route 169 is open 6:30 AM - 6:00 PM.
Our before and after school programs offer structured activities, supervised homework, and outdoor play. For Snow days, early dismissals/ delayed openings, or Holidays, we offer full day care.

Our program at Woodstock Elementary School is open 6:30 AM - 8:30AM and 2:30PM - 6:00 PM. Our before and after school programs offer structured activities, supervised homework help, and outdoor play. For snow days, early dismissals/ delayed openings, and any non-major holidays, care can be availble at our center location on Route 169.

Our Muscle Room provides the opportunity for younger children to be able to practice gross motor skills while working some extra energy off!

Our Library provides a variety of books for children of all ages at the center. Teachers often swap out books for their classroom or take children to the library for a story and circle time.
